Remote’s Next

OK so Al left and Eddie jumped in. Turning up at the first rehearsal we went through both sets without stopping. We were, and still are impressed. So we’ve had a couple more rehearsals since, polished up the tunes and spent some time on the desk improving the sound. It’s our first gig with the new line up tomorrow and I’ve got to admit we’re really looking forward to it. We’re all confident with the songs and each other, nerves have vanished and we’re having a bloody good time. And that’s what it’s all about.

Nissy came to a rehearsal. Gaz was held up at work and Nissy being Nissy… well… erm… joined in.

snow and dust

A Wednesday rehearsal with snow making the journey to get there a bit slow but we all made it. Worked up a couple of the new songs and knocked the dust of a few of the ‘old’ ones. Strangely a couple of the ‘old’ ones sounded a lot better – maybe it’s because we’ve left them alone for a bit.

I don’t know what happened to Chris’s voice when Nick dropped the key of Don’t Stop Believing to D but I don’t think I’ve heard him sound better, which is odd because Mardy Bum is in D and for some reason Al ended up singing that?? I’m not quite sure what went on there.

There was lots of talk about gigs and dates but I’ve already forgotten it all so need to put some kind of calendar on here for organising that kind of stuff. I think someone said we’re back at the Bull’s Head at Easter.

Al has never seen Pulp Fiction.

Rehearsal time becoming more and more valuable. We had a chat and agreed that we need to use the time a bit more productively. Got through a few good tunes: Mr Brightside, Valerie, Mardy Bum and decided to learn Journey – Don’t Stop Believing. Chris can’t do next Thursday so we’re thinking of Wednesday instead. We’ve also got another gig booked at the Bull’s Head and one at Easter (I think) Looking to do Tara Liesure in March?

feeling good

After some “debate” about what we should do with the dosh from the gig (which I’m not sure left everyone happy – Gaz needs it to pay off the Brian Adams hecklers?) we set about rehearsing new tunes. We went through Muse’s version of Feeling Good a couple of times and soon got to grips with it. It’s a great song, one of those that you just know is going to go down well on a gig. I would be happy to do lots more songs like this and drop some of the older stuff.

We also worked on dropping the volume in the ‘water’ section of Judas as Chris is having to shout the vocal to be heard.

Worked on the intro for She’s Electric too, because we kind of spooned it on the gig.

It was decided that we should learn Zuton’s – Valerie for next week. Not happy. I hate that bloody song.
